About G.W. Lisk

In 1910, George Washington Lisk opened a small sheet metal shop on the portion of land which our present USA plant now covers. His original products were patented baking pans and hand pump fly sprayers.

As World War II came to a close the focus shifted to solenoids after producing our first solenoid valve in 1948 to meet a customer need. Since that day our core business model has remained unchanged, and that is to provide exceptional electromagnetic products to fulfill our customer's specific requirements and needs.

Through the years, our products have grown to include solenoid valves, LVDT's, and flame arrestors. As our customer base grew, we gradually expanded each of our facilities and the manufacturing capabilities at each site.

The original Clifton Springs plant now exceeds 328,000 square feet of manufacturing, offices, and warehouse area. The Ireland plant is approximately 100,000 square feet and a new facility has been opened in China to meet the needs of a growing customer base in the area.

Being a privately held company of just over 500 employees, G.W. Lisk and its customers have enjoyed a stability and close partnership larger companies often fail to develop. Our investments in equipment and facilities have been guided by a philosophy of total "in-house capabilities" wherever practical. This enables us to control quality and to respond to the urgent and sometimes sudden needs of our customers.

Today, G.W. Lisk is strategically positioned to service new and existing customers' needs well into the future with a dedication to continuous improvement, problem prevention, and total customer satisfaction. With a working knowledge in a variety of markets such as military, aerospace, automotive, commercial, and medical, we have the expertise our customers have come to rely on every day.

Our Environmental Policy provides the framework for achieving these goals.

G.W. Lisk Company Incorporated is dedicated to the pursuit of an environmentally responsible facility by; continually reducing the generation of waste, using less toxic or non-toxic alternatives and reusing or recycling materials to the maximum extent possible. We shall observe all federal, state, and local regulations and follow operating practices that stress pollution prevention and ensure a safe environment for our employees and the community.

It is our commitment to minimize the generation of waste by continuous process improvement using best management practices and technology. Our plan for obtaining this objective include:

Communicating this policy with all employees, vendors, sub-tier suppliers, contractors and customers.

An employee suggestion and rewards program for environmental, health and safety.

Education and training for key personnel

Formation of an Environmental Improvement Team to include the Environmental Manager, Engineering, Purchasing, Safety Coordinator, Facilities Manager, Manufacturing Engineer, and Plating Technician whose responsibilities shall be to investigate and submit minimization, alternative, or recycling options to management consistent with this policy.

Implement Environmental Improvement Team recommendations that meet the objectives of this policy.

It shall be the responsibility of the Environmental Manager to implement the goals of this policy and to perform continual review of company practices to establish targets for pollution reduction that present the greatest potential risk to health or the environment.
